EAP Lesson Plans

NOTE:  The lesson materials have now moved to their own separate blog, and can be found at the following link:  Sarah's EAP, ESL, and ESP lesson plans.

My lesson materials are different from conventional text books for three reasons:

(1)  they focus on combined skills rather than individual skllls of reading, writing, speaking, and grammar.
(2)  they infuse content from academic disciplines/themes such as psychology, business, and health care (created through collaborations with faculty who teach in those disciplines).
(3)  they emphasize project-based assessment and critical thinking.

If you want to read more about me and my awesome colleagues, here's a link to Valencia's EAP web page.

If you like these lesson materials, use and share them, and check back regularly for new ones.  Get in touch if you have any comments or questions.

One of my favorite quotes about education inspires the design of my lesson materials:

'Knowledge emerges only through invention and re-invention, through the restless, impatient, continuing hopeful inquiry human beings pursue in the world, with the world, and with each other.' From 'The Pedagogy of the Oppressed' by Paulo Freire

  1. Have your ESL students heard of all the holidays you celebrate? Mine haven't, so I am sure to teach them these holidays in an effort to build their common, cultural knowledge
